The Department of Agriculture (DA) โ€“ Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) completed the distribution of fertilizer inputs this October across its Region IV-A and VII sites, supporting the upcoming wet season rollout of the Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) for Rice project.

A total of 5,824 bags of fertilizers were distributed to 500 rice farmers in Naic, Cavite (78); Tiaong (23) and Candelaria (27), Quezon; and Talibon (266) and Ubay (106), Bohol. The fertilizer inputs included:

4,000 bags of organic fertilizer

816 bags of complete fertilizer

800 bags of Urea

200 bags of Muriate of Potash

8 bags of Zinc Sulfate

Region IV-A Distribution

In Naic, Cavite, organic fertilizers were distributed on September 25 and 26, 2024 to rice farmers from six barangays: Palangue Central, Halang, Calubcob, Makena, San Roque, and Palangue 2 & 3. Inorganic fertilizers were subsequently distributed on October 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, rice farmers from Barangay Behia, Tiaong and Barangay Sta. Catalina Norte, Candelaria, Quezon, received both organic and inorganic fertilizers on October 9 and 10, 2024, respectively.

Region VII Distribution

In Bohol, all rice farmers of Barangay San Roque, Talibon received their fertilizers on October 18, 2024. In Barangay Gabi, Ubay, organic fertilizers were distributed on September 19, 2024, followed by inorganic fertilizers on October 17, 2024.

The distribution efforts were led by the Region IV-A and VII Implementation Teams under the supervision of NSWRRDC HILLPEZ Center Chief Joven P. Espineli.

The Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) for Rice is part of the National Soil Health Program (NSHP) of the DA-BSWM. This initiative is under the leadership of Director Gina P. Nilo, Ph.D., and Assistant Director Denise A. Solano, promoting sustainable agricultural practices to improve soil health and rice productivity across key regions.
