Description
implementation of soil conservation measures and/or sustainable land management through, capacity building and establishment of Sustainable Land Management Exemplar Site (SLMES)
Objective
In line with the Department of Agriculture’s (DA’s) commitment to the Operational Plan on Manila Bay Coastal Strategies (OPMBCS) as created based on the Supreme Court Ruling in G.R. Nos. 171947-48 to clean up, rehabilitate and restore the Manila Bay to SB level, the BSWM-SCMD is tasked to address the objective: to conserve, rehabilitate and manage micro-watersheds and soil resources through implementation of soil conservation and/or Sustainable Land Management.
Activities
- Adoption of SLM practices through site establishment (SLMES)
- Conduct of capacity building/farmers training
- Monitoring of existing techno-demo sites
Impact
Active and healthy soil resources through sustainable land management resulting in increase in farmer’s yield/income/livelihood
- promotion/adoption of appropriate soil conservation measures
- increase awareness of land users on soil conservation
- widen the source of income through crop diversification
- conservation of soil resources
