Matagumpay na naisagawa ng Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), sa ilalim ng GEF-6 Biodiversity Corridor Project Component 3.2, ang pagtatatag ng apat na Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Exemplar Sites sa Occidental Mindoro at Oriental Mindoro. Isinagawa ito noong Hulyo 27-31, 2026 sa Brgy. Pitogo, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, August 2-14, 2026  sa  Brgy. Maliwanag, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro at August 16-28, 2026 sa Brgy. Lisap at Brgy. Carmundo, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro. Nakiisa sa mga gawain ang mga kinatawan ng mga Local Government Unit (LGU), mga katutubong magsasaka, mga miyembro ng Danupa Farmer’s Association sa Rizal, Maliwanag Mansalay Irrigators Association sa Mansalay, Lisap Farmer’s Association ng Brgy. Lisap, Bongabong, Carmundo Farmer’s Association ng Brgy. Carmundo, Bongabong.

Humigit-kumulang 4,000 planting materials ang naitanim sa apat na SLM Exemplar Sites. Kabilang dito ang saging, kalamansi, durian, pinya, lansones, avocado, cacao, rambutan, niyog, at iba’t ibang gulay, na inayos at itinanim kahilera ng natural na contour ng lupa.

Ang matagumpay na pagsasagawa ng mga gawaing ito ay bunga ng sama-samang pagtutulungan ng mga kawani ng DA-BSWM Soil Conservation and Management Division (SCMD), LGU, IP Communities at mga miyembro ng farmers association sa mga naitatag na SLM Exemplar Sites.

Inaasahang magsisilbing mga demonstration sites ang mga lugar upang hikayatin ang mas malawak na paggamit ng mga teknolohiya at pamamaraang nakabatay sa Sustainable Land Management (SLM). Sa pamamagitan nito, inaasahang makatutulong ang proyekto sa rehabilitasyon ng mga degraded agricultural lands, dagdag kita sa mga magsasaka at mas patibayin ang pangangalaga ng saribuhay sa loob ng Mindoro Biodiversity Corridor.| via Mia Daniella Cayas and R-J Efogon, SCMD

This initiative is part of the DENR-UNDP/GEF project on “Integrated Approach in the Management of Major Biodiversity Corridors in the Philippines” or BD Corridor Project, which seeks to operationalize integrated management of biodiversity corridors to generate multiple benefits, including effective conservation of globally threatened species and high conservation value forests, reduce land degradation and deforestation, promote Sustainable Land Management (SLM), and enhance local biodiversity-friendly livelihoods.

The project is led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) component being implemented by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF 6).
