In an effort to mainstream Sustainable Land Management (SLM) as one of the top agenda of the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soil and Water Management (DA-BSWM), the Soil Conservation and Management Division (SCMD) personnel served as resource persons in the Consultation Meeting with Farmer-Cooperators of the Sustainable Land Management Exemplar Sites (SLMES) under the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project (MBRP) in Bataan on February 20, 2026 and in the 18th Pan-Asia Farmers Exchange Program in Acacia Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City on March 3, 2026. 

In the said Consultation Meeting, Engr. Jemar G. Raquid explained how SLM is being implemented in the MBRP. Moreover, he zeroed in on the actions for wider SLM adoption and underscored SLM’s linkages to local, national, and global commitments. 

Meanwhile, Mr. Ghar Christian R. Tesorero provided updates on the SLMES that were established from 2015 to 2024 and shared the results of the 2025-2026 monitoring activities. 

As part of the activity, the farmer-cooperators shared their respective experiences and consulted the DA-BSWM with regard to the MBRP. The Consultation Meeting ended with the renewed commitment from the farmer-cooperators, Local Government Units (LGUs), and the DA-BSWM in advancing SLM. 

Aside from the Consultation Meeting, the DA-BSWM also discussed SLM Initiatives in the 18th Pan-Asia Farmers Exchange Program organized by CropLife Philippines, together with CropLife Asia and the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA). In the said talk, Mr. Tesorero noted the importance of SLM in agricultural productivity and environmental preservation, highlighting its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, he enumerated the DA-BSWM’s projects that promote SLM.
