Mainit na tinanggap ng mga mushroom at vegetable growers ng Botolan, Zambales, Tuburan, Cebu, at Claveria, Misamis Oriental ang bagong proyekto ng Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), sa pamamagitan ng Soil and Water Resources Research Division (SWRRD). 

Sa pangunguna at buong suporta ng DA-BSWM Director, Dr. Gina P. Nilo, Assistant Director, Ms. Denise A. Solano, at SWRRD Division Chief, Dr. Karen S. Bautista, matagumpay na nailunsad ng project team na pinamumunuan ni Ms. Jacqueline S. Rojales, Ms. Vicky T. Dimaano, Ms. Digna R. Allag, Ms. Heycel R. Briol, Ms. Ma. Angelita Esguerra, at Mr. Jerry Paul P. Arciaga ang Inception Meeting at Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing para sa proyektong “Scaling up of Bio-enriched Spent Mushroom Substrate (BioSMS) Soil Conditioner Technology in Mushroom Growing Areas in the Philippines” sa mga nasabing lugar noong May 20, June 24, at July 4, 2025. 

Ito ay dinaluhan ng mga piling stakeholders mula sa Local Government Units sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Municipal Agriculturists na sina Mr. Ramon D. Dolojan  ng LGU-Botolan; Mr. Kent Marcial L. Catubis ng LGU-Tuburan kasama ng kanilang outgoing Mayor, Hon. Democrito M. Diamante; at Mr. Pat F. Dumaloan ng LGU-Claveria; mula sa mga farmers’ association na kinabibilangan ng Next Gen Mushroom Growers Association (Zambales) sa pamumuno ni Ms. Gerlie Labrador, Cebu Province Mushroom Growers Agriculture Cooperative (Cebu) sa pamununo ni Ms. Dorothy Del Carmen, Anlag Ani Tapukanan Consumers Cooperative (Misamis Oriental) sa pamumuno ni Mr. Jay-ar A. Domino; at mula sa University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) sa pamumuno ni Dr. Apolinario B. Gonzaga, Jr., Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension. Kasama din sa pagtitipon sa Cebu si Mr. Joseph E. Dela Cerna, Sr. Agriculturist, Provincial Agriculturist Office.

Ang initiative na ito ay bahagi ng National Soil Health Program (NSHP) na naglalayong ipakita ang bisa ng teknolohiyang BioSMS soil conditioner sa aktwal na mga taniman, palakasin ang kakayahan ng mga lokal na nagtatanim ng kabute at gulay, at isulong ang mas pinabuting kalusugan ng lupa sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng teknolohiyang ito. |  Vicky Taylan-Dimaano, SWRRD
