“Ang programa po ng ABFS ay nakatulong sa aming mga magsasaka upang mabalanse ang paglalagay ng fertilizer; makabawas sa gastusin ng pagsasaka; at magkaroon ng mas masaganang ani.”- Nemesio Oliverio, Jr. of Brgy. Banga Dawis, Pototan Iloilo.

To address soil health issues and concerns, the DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) headed by Director Gina P. Nilo, Ph.D. is currently implementing the Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) in Region 6, specifically in the province of Iloilo.
This week (October 2-6, 2023) marks the harvest for the 1st cropping of the wet season for ABFS, and the Team of BSWM headed by the BSWM Focal Person for Region 6, Dr. Karen S. Bautista led the activities. Interviews and informal discussions were conducted. Additionally, samples for analysis will be collected as part of its data gathering and will be consolidated for fertilizer recommendations. The Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) is a nutrient-management strategy that focuses on improving soil health through cost-efficient and proper combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers for agricultural productivity.
