Function

  • Provide leadership for the conduct of multi-disciplinary soil and water resources research and development
  • Ensure the formulation of measures and guidelines for the effective utilization of soil and water resources as vital agricultural resources to attain food security and safety, environmental stability through soil and water resources-based adaptation and mitigation measures that address multi-environmental concerns on land degradation, climate change, and agricultural biodiversity conservation
  • Recommend appropriate soil and water management policies to the Office of the Secretary , DA to address issues on food security, environment, biodiversity, and climate change, including vulnerability/disaster risk assessment relative to agriculture
  • Provides the overall administration of the Bureau of Soils and Water Management and sets the policies and procedures relating to the planning and implementation of the plans and programs. The Director and Assistant Director represent the BSWM in public, official, and international functions, executive meetings, and work as advocates for the advancement of soil and water sciences in the country and its relevance to the attainment of national goal of poverty alleviation and food security through the development and promotion of sustainable agricultural land management practices and policies
