The DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) successfully held its FY 2024 Midyear Performance and Planning Workshop at Sitio Bathala, Tanay, Rizal, from August 13 to 16, 2024. This four-day event is crucial in assessing the progress of the Bureauโs projects and initiatives during the first half of the fiscal year, and in strategizing for the remaining months.

In addition to the workshopโs primary objectives, the third day featured a team-building activity designed to enhance collaboration and camaraderie among BSWM staff. Participants engaged in various team exercises not only strengthened their working relationships but also fostered a deeper sense of unity and shared purpose. The activities underscored the importance of teamwork in achieving the BSWMโs goals, especially in the context of implementing the nationโs soil and water conservation projects and activities.

Simultaneously, a Quality Management System (QMS) audit assessment was conducted during the event. This audit is integral in ensuring that the BSWMโs processes and procedures adhere to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The Audit Team reviewed various aspects of the BSWMโs operations, providing valuable insights that will contribute to continuous improvement and organizational excellence.
DA-BSWM Director Dr. Gina Parde-Nilo emphasized the significance of these parallel activities in bolstering the Bureauโs overall performance. โThe combination of our midyear assessment, team-building activities, and the quality management audit demonstrates our holistic approach to organizational development. We are not just focusing on meeting our targets; we are also committed to fostering a culture of quality and teamwork,โ she said.

DA-BSWM Assistant Director Denise A. Solano complemented the statement of Director Dr. Nilo during her closing message. โThis midyear assessment allows us to evaluate our progress, address any gaps, and align our strategies to effectively carry out our mandate of safeguarding the nationโs soil and water resources,โ she said.
The workshop sessions covered a wide range of topics, including project management, resource allocation, and policy development. The outcomes of the workshop are expected to guide the BSWM in its endeavors for the remainder of FY 2024, ensuring that the Bureau continues to contribute to the nationโs agricultural development and environmental sustainability.
