The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA – BSWM), Director Gina Parde-Nilo, Ph.D, together with her team from the BSWM Property Management Unit, Mr. Jodie Rico and Ms. Armelyn Galicia; Laboratory Services Division and PD1435, Ms. Florfina Sanchez  and Ms. Agnes Morada and;  Office of the Director, Ms. Kristine Grace P. Nilo and Mr. Arvie F. Loberiano, attended the Inauguration of Soil Laboratory and Turnover Ceremony of the BSWM Donations to Apayao State College (ASC) last 31 March 2025, at Apayao State College, San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.

During the program, Director Nilo congratulated the faculty and students of the ASC for their outstanding act of kindness and academic excellence and growth. In her Message, Director Nilo highlighted the BSWM’s Agenda such as the National Soil Health Program (NSHP); Implementation of the Sustainable Land Management and; Strengthening the Implementation of Presidential Decree (PD) 1435. These agenda fully support soil and water resilient food system through sustainability of soil and water resources use and management by strengthening the resilience of food systems in different climatic regions in the country. Further, Director Nilo mentioned the Composting Facilities for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) that facilitate the promotion of the use of organic fertilizers/compost and support the increase in adoption of organic farming practices across the country.

On the other hand, Director Nilo donated and turned over the Innova vehicle to the Apayao State College (ASC) which will significantly enhance their mobility and operational capabilities and ability to provide exceptional support and leadership, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the administrative operations.

Overall, the BSWM is grateful for the warm welcome of the ASC and looks forward to continued collaboration with the institution to work together towards the sustainable land management and climate – resilient agricultural practices.
