The DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) participated in the 9th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress (ROAC) with the theme “Kabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK: PGS Pinalakas para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” on22-24 April 2024,  in La Trinidad, Benguet.

In support of the Organic Agriculture Act (RA No. 10068 of 2010), the DA-BSWM – as one of the active implementing agencies of the DA-National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) – promotes organic farming nationwide through the Establishment of the Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) and Small-Scale Composting Facility (SSCF) Project. 

During the Congress, the DA-BSWM through Ms. Chari Ann A. Maestre, the CPIT Implementation Officer,  provided updates on the organic agriculture interventions in CAR, and underscored the benefits of these initiatives. For and on behalf of DA-BSWM Director Dr. Gina P. Nilo and Assistant Director Ms. Denise A. Solano, farmers were encouraged to utilize the facilities for waste reduction, soil fertility enhancement, soil health improvement, and boost crop production for a sustainable agriculture.

Representing the DA-BSWM with Ms. Maestre is Mr. John Robert D. Cruz, PDO II of the BSWM-Compost Production Implementation Team (CPIT).
