As part of intensifying the use of Organic Fertilizer in the country, the newly appointed DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) Director Gina P. Nilo, together with DA-BSWM OIC-Assistant Director Bernardo B. Pascua, the Technical Division and Research Center Chiefs, DA-BSWM Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) Focal and Deputy Focal Person, and the Department of Agriculture – Organic Agriculture Program (DA-OAP) Director Bernadette F. San Juan explore other possibilities on the Project implementation by visiting the Villar SIPAG facilities in Las Piñas City on December 19, 2022.

During the visit, Director Nilo acknowledged the significant contributions and sustainable efforts of the BSWM-OAP in the CFBW project implementation. She also emphasized the 2023 budget allocation for the CFBW, which will boost the soil health and use of organic fertilizer in the Philippines.

Moreover, the Villar SIPAG facilitator explained to all the DA-BSWM and DA-OAP participants the brief history of the CFBW, livelihood, and entrepreneurship of the Las Piñeros through CFBW and water lily weaving, and technical knowledge on waste management for CFBW.

The DA-BSWM has been the focal agency in Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) since 2015. The Program aims to increase crop productivity through sustainable agriculture while promoting organic farming, enriching soil health, and proper waste management.
