The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), in support to the global campaign on World Antimicrobial Awareness Week celebrated on November 18-24, manifested its commitment in raising awareness and concrete actions in response to Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) especially in agricultural sector.

DA-BSWM Director Gina Parde-Nilo, Ph.D, Assistant Director Denise A. Solano and BSWM personnel Go blue for AMR during its Monday Convocation, recited the AMR Pledge and signed on the commitment wall.

I PLEDGE TO TAKE ACTIONS AND

Stop overuse and misuse of antimicrobials by:

-Supporting a multi-sectoral national action plan on antimicrobial resistance.

-Developing and enforcing regulations to stop overuse and misuse of antimicrobials in humans, plants and animals.

-making information on how to stop overuse and misuse of antimicrobials available to citizens.

Prevent the spread of infection by:

-Developing and enforcing regulations to prevent the spread of infections through:

-Monitoring farms’, hospitals’, and clinics’ compliance with infection prevention and control standards’

-Enforcing good agriculture and food production practices.
