The Department of Agriculture—Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) through Laboratory Services Division (LSD) successfully hosted an informative online training program focused on enhancing knowledge and skills in Compliance and Quality Management, Document Control Procedures, and Records Management on November 12, 2024. This initiative is part of the PD 1435 capacity-building series and is designed to enhance consistency, accuracy, and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. The CPD Accreditation System has accredited the training, providing 5 CPD units for registered Chemists and Chemical Technicians.
More than 100 participants from various soil laboratories participated, including PhilNASOLAN members from DA Regional Soil Laboratories and Satellite Soils Laboratories (DARSL/SATSLs), National Soil Laboratories and Provincial Soil Laboratories (NATSL/PROVSL), Private Laboratories (PL/INTSL), State Universities and Colleges Soil Laboratories (SUCSL/RESSL), other DA agencies, and technical and administrative representatives from the BSWM.
We were honored to have expert speakers share their invaluable knowledge:

It also included group workshops, where the participants applied the concepts discussed by creating a process flow of document and records control procedure.
The LSD Water Chemistry Section Chief, Joshua Mikhel B. Reyes, expressed his gratitude to leaders, speakers, organizers, and participants. He emphasized the importance of document control and records management in maintaining quality and integrity in soil laboratory operations. He also encouraged attendees to apply the knowledge they gained to implement actionable improvements in their respective laboratories.
