In accordance with its goal of maximizing the youth in nation-building, and in line with the celebration of the World Water Day 2024 with the theme “Water for Peace,” the DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) through its Youth and Children Committee (YCC), conducted the first day of the Iskwelahang Munti Drive series for 2024, on 19 March 2024 at the Tanay-Sampaloc Integrated National High School.

This activity, which focuses on sharing the importance of soil and water to Grade School and Junior High School students, was attended by 70 students, school officials, and BSWM representatives. Another highlight of the event was the Ceremonial Turnover of the BSWM’s chairs and sound system to the Tanay-Sampaloc Integrated National High School. The Iskwehalang Munti Drive is also part of the BSWM’s Kick-Off activities towards its 73rd Founding Anniversary.

On behalf of Director Gina Nilo and Assistant Director Denise Solano, Personnel Chief and YCC Co-Chairperson Ms. Nancy De Sagun delivered a Message from the BSWM, sharing among the participants the relevance of the Iskwelahang Munti Drive in this day and age. Water Resources Management Division (WRMD) representative Ms. Estepanie Zambrano shared the importance and the details of this year’s World Water Day Celebration. Further, Engr. Diane Escote  discussed the WRMD activities.

Other representatives from the BSWM were the YCC Divisional Focal and Alternate Focal Persons: Shaira Mhel Joy Granada, Eloisa Santiago, Kimberly Bitas, Kyle Angelo Macaslang. PMU Representative Mr. Jefferson Laluon, and Ma Kreza Bulan were also present as support staff in the event.

Tanay-Sampaloc Integrated National High School, on the other hand, was headed by its PSDS/OIC Principal Dr. Dahlia Certeza, who delivered the Opening Message. Other school officials present in the activity were Mr. Agapito De Leon, School NDRRM Coordinator, and Dr. Alegria Belga, OIC Academics.

In closing, WRMD OIC Engr. Diosdado Manalus delivered his message before the participants with words of encouragement and inspiration.

The DA-BSWM Management headed by Director Gina P. Nilo and Assistant Director Denise A. Solano has been supportive of the activities initiated by the Committee for the benefit of the youth and children.
