The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), being the nationally mandated agency on the sustainable management of Philippine soil and water resources for agriculture, has been making a mark in the agriculture sector through its programs, projects, and activities. In this day and age, we also embrace digitalization to provide further assistance to our farmers in the field of soil and water for agriculture.

During the first of the two-day Semi-Annual Meeting of the Philippines National Soil Laboratory Network (PhilNASOLAN) on 06 May 2024, the DA-BSWM headed by Director Gina P.  Nilo and Assistant Director Denise A. Solano, through the Laboratory Services Division (LSD) headed by Ms. Maribel R. Jalalon launched the Fertilizer Recommendation Mobile Application together with the PhilNASOLAN members present in the event at the BSWM Lopez Convention Hall, and online via Zoom. The event was graced by the presence of the DA Assistant Secretary for Logistics Daniel Arthur Atayde, representing the Honorable DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr., who affirmed the DA’s full support to the projects of the BSWM.

The newly-launched application aims to further assist the farmers in automatically generating crop-specific fertilizer recommendations in less than a minute, in streamlining fertilizer management, aiming to reduce errors and promote the judicious use of inorganic fertilizers; and in ultimately empowering farmers and stakeholders to achieve bountiful harvests through sustainable practices.

Currently, the application is only available on Android devices, and may be downloaded through the Google Play Store soon. For now, the public may access the application through the QR code provided in this story.

The public may also follow this steps:
